EL SENDERO DE DANTE

Novel

The action takes place in Venice, at the present time. An agnostic psychiatrist, Dr. Schwarz, obsessed by Dante Alighieri's journey in the Divine Comedy, decides to follow Dante's path to prove the existence of life after death, and so subjects himself to self-hypnosis.

The story is narrated in first person by Alicia Malus, a friend, former lover and former pupil of Dr. Schwarz. She tells us the chronicle of those days and, in the meantime, she finds out her own story she believes to have escaped from and faces a truth she didn't know. In this psychological thriller novel, the narration mixes up current events with memories of a girl born in the middle of the Ocean, raised by her mother and grandmother, a Countess who had fallen from grace.

BIO

Andrea was born in Rosario, Argentina, where she obtained her degree of Literary and Technical Translation, and now lives in Italy where she has been living since the early '90s. She has been writing since childhood and wrote her first short stories at the age of ten, but only decided to begin publishing her writings in 2005.

She is a member of REMES (Worldwide Network of Spanish-language writers), Círculo de Escritores de Venezuela (Venezuelan Writers Association), AEM (Writers Association of Mérida, Venezuela), WeWrite (Italy), and ISA (International Scriptwriters Association). She was appointed to be a part of the editorial team for the literary magazine Palabras Diversas until its closure.

Being mainly a narrative writer with brief forays into poetry and lyrical prose, Andrea also devotes herself to scriptwriting as it combines perfectly with her narrative style.

Andrea’s first novel, “El Sendero de Dante,” was published by Editorial Jirones de Azul (Seville, Spain) in May 2007. This novel was included in the Master in Ibero-American Literature program’s seminar “Narradoras iberoamericanas, de la sensibilidad creadora a la técnica” held in 2008 at the School of Humanities and Education at the University of the Andes (Mérida, Venezuela).

In that same year, she was appointed as a jury member for the literary contest II Certamen Internacional de Relatos “La Cerilla Mágica”, which was organized by Publicatuslibros.com and sponsored by the Culture Department of the Governing Council in Andalusia, Spain

Many of her short stories and articles have been published in literary magazines, such as Letralia, Delirium Tremens, Cronopio, Red Margutte, and Colofón. Many of her short stories and papers have been published in a variety of collections in Europe and Latin America and received a honorable mention,

Her writing, which has been influenced by both Latin American and English literature, cannot be classified into any particular genre. She has experimented with several different writing styles to eventually find her own narrative voice.

She also studied screenwriting in Italy and in Spain.

Andrea continues unabatedly to make progress with her many narrative projects.

Her last novel "El reposo de la tierra durante el invierno" was among the 10 finalists of Planeta Award 2016, published by Trabalis Editores (Puerto Rico, 2018) and Baltasara Editora (Argentina, 2019).
